07.08.2010: Response from DoT to our letter on Pay fixation in case of Group B officers who have opted IDA pay scale from the date of next promotion which happened to fall after 1.10.2000 - reduction in pension: We had addressed Secretary, DoT on 16.6.2010 (view our letter) on the above issue requesting him to direct CCAs of all Circles to decide the case of payment of pension in respect of the above cases, based on existing instructions of BSNL as already advised by DOT vide No 1-1(04)/2005-PAT(Pt) dated 24.09.2008 and not to resort to the practice of reducing the quantum of pension.  TA I Section of DoT has requested DDG (Estt) of DoT to issue necessary clarification/guidelines to CCA officers for the methodology of fixation of pay in these cases.  View letter...

03.08.2010:Revision of IDA rate w.e.f. 1.7.2010: We had reported on 30.6.2010 that according to our calculation IDA shall increase by 0.3% from 34.8% to 35.1% w.e.f 1.7.2010.  Doubts were being raised in some quarters about  the accuracy of our calculation.  DPE has today issued orders enhancing the IDA rate from 34.8% to 35.1.% w.e.f. 1.7.2010 in respect of the PSUs where last pay revision was implemented w.e.f. 1.1.2007.  View DPE orders...

03.08.2010: Revision of pension for Pre-2007 BSNL pensioners: It is learnt that the draft cabinet memo has finally been sent to the concerned Ministries/Departments (DOP&PW, DPE, Dept of Expenditure, DLA) for their comments. On receipt of the response from these Ministries/Departments, the Memo will be finalised and sent to the Cabinet for consideration.

02.08.2010: BSNL belies forecast by sooth-sayers: Belying all the forecast of astronomical figures of loss,  BSNL has posted a net loss of Rs.1822 crores, during the last financial year ending 31.3.2010, according to the final audit figures.  But for the payment of Rs 2900 crores arrears of pay revision paid during the year, it would have been a net profit of around Rs.700 crores.  The net profit during the previous year 2008-09 was Rs.575 crores.  Although there is lot to improve, the figures confirm that the performance was not as bad as was being painted by some sooth-sayers trying to create panic.

02.08.2010: Benefit of merger of 50% IDA with basic pay w.e.f.1.1.2007 amounting to 78.2% for fitment in revised pay scales: Although this issue was reportedly in the agenda of the Board meeting held on 30.7.2010, it is learnt that the issue could not be taken up for discussion on that day.  Now the decision will have to wait till the next Board meeting.
